1 Thessalonians 5:5,6 - You Are Sons of Light

1 Thessalonians 5:5-6 -  You are all sons of light, and sons of the day. We don't belong to the night, nor to darkness, [6]  so then let's not sleep, as the rest do, but let us watch and be sober.  -- World English.

Those who belong to Christ are new creatures, for whom the night of the old order of darkness is reckoned as having already passed away. (2 Corinthians 5:17) The regenerated children of God in spirit are not of the old order condemned in Adam that has been subjected to futility, vanity and sinful corruption, although the flesh is still under subjection to such bondage. -- Romans 5:12-19; 8:20-23.

Nevertheless, the new creature is an enemy of sin, and is a servant to righteousness, cultivating the fruitage of the spirit, eventually to full perfection. God has shined into the hearts of those who belong to Christ (2 Corinthians 4:6), providing light in harmony with righteousness. Thus, the new creature is an ambassador in this present world of the age to come, when righteousness will prevail. (2 Peter 3:13) As children of light, we surely want to tell others about this marvelous light concerning the glory of God that is soon to revealed to the whole world, not only so that those whom God is calling in this age may take heed to the light and prepare themselves for the work of the age to come, but also to give a witness to people of the world in general, Though they may not become of the consecrated in this age, many of them may still find comfort in the promises of God. 

Today, as never before in history, we are be bombarded with all kinds of presentations that promote practically all forms of evil, and often the evil is promoted as being "good" while that which is of the light is presented as being evil. (Isaiah 5:20) If the child of God does not stay awake and alert spiritually, it is very easy to become ensnared by such deceptions The child of God should, thus, be equipped with knowledge of the Bible in order to be alert to the many forms of unrighteousness that is taking place in the world, so as not to become entangled with such.  -- Ronald R.
