03-06 - Philippians 4:11,12 - Content In Whatever State

Philippians 4:11-12 -  Not that I speak in respect to lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. [12]  I know how to be humbled, and I know also how to abound. In everything and in all things have I learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need. -- World English.

As new creatures in Christ, we need to learn to humbly do without as God permits, and if we have are permitted to have an abundance, we should endeavor to remain humble, meekly remembering that, without God, we are unworthy and insufficient in our flesh.  In what we have, we should always pray that we might use our possessions to praise the Heavenly Father. Indeed, God may allow our circumstances to change drastically overnight. We should be humble before God consistently whether we have an abundance, or whether we find ourselves lacking some things, or even if  we, for a time, may go hungry. We should be ready to receive humiliation from the hand of God, as He may see fit for our own discipline so that we may properly develop the fruits of the spirit, while discarding the works of the flesh. (Galatians 5:19-23) Whether with or without, we should always give thanks to our Heavenly Father.
